Details

Samsung Galaxy S8 (G950FD Dual SIM 64GB 4G LTE) is the 2017-released next-generation flagship of the famous Galaxy S series from the Korean tech giant Samsung. Released in March 2017, this hugely anticipated handset delivers powerful specs along with a sleek construction. The phone features an 8.0mm build and weighs 155g. It retains the IP68 rating for water and dust resistance provided in its predecessor Galaxy S7. This practically means that the phone withstands 1.5 meters underwater submersion support for up to 30 minutes provided that all ports are properly closed.

Living up to the high standards of the Galaxy S lineup, the smartphone is big, in fact bigger than ever before. The next-gen Galaxy comes with a huge 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED touchscreen display while retaining the body size of the Galaxy S7. This essentially means that the bezels have been completely eliminated this time thereby offering an 83.6-percent screen to body ratio with just the Infinity Display to immerse into. The screen takes up the full front side of the handset without any boundary and ends up only in the aluminium shell of the phone. The default resolution for the screen is Full HD+ which can be changed to Quad HD+ from Settings menu.

The phone design eliminates the home button, which has been a constant characteristic of all Galaxy devices. There is, however, a catch to it. The front mounted fingerprint sensor available on the home button in Galaxy S7 has now been shifted to the back of the phone for making navigation much more convenient. Instead of the home button, Samsung has introduced a new pressure sensing 3D touch technology for its new on-screen touch buttons.

Samsung Galaxy S8 features a new sensor called an Iris Sensor/Scanner. It is all-set to define a next-level security category for smart devices for ultra secure unlocking. As its name suggests it scans your eye to securely unlock your phone or sensitive data. As far as camera goes, Samsung has held on to the 4K supported specs of the predecessor model. It sports a 12-Megapixel Dual Pixel AF sensor for the rear camera with a pixel size of 1.4 micro-pixel to bring in more light especially in darker environments. Additional rear camera specs include: Optical Image Stabilization, LED flash, touch focus, 8x max digital zoom, Pro mode, Auto mode, Slow Motion recording, 4K recording, Panorama and Hyperlapse. The phone improves the front cam to 8.0-Megapixel Auto HDR owing to the great demand and ever-increasing popularity of selfies.

A unique feature of the Galaxy S8 is the introduction of Bixby: a digital personal assistant on the main homescreen. This AI assistant understands talk, text and gestures or taps so you have freedom of communication. It changes the way you operate your phone or make searches. You can also open or close apps by telling Bixby to do so. It takes commands from users, suggest options and remember user preferences for a refined experience. Another top-of-the-line feature is the phone compatibility with the new 2017-released Samsung Galaxy VR. The S8 supports 360 degree spherical Virtual Reality to offer you a mesmerizing and truly immersive VR experience. Furthermore, if you are switching from your old phone to the Galaxy S8, you can use the SmartSwitch feature to transfer everything easily and conveniently.

Powered by the first 10nm processor in the world, the device runs on a powerful Exynos 8895 Octa Core CPU consisting of 4x 2.3GHz and 4x 1.7GHz processors. The chipset boasts a huge 4GB RAM ideal for top-notch multitasking. Other notable tech specs of the Samsung Galaxy S8 are: Dual SIM support (One 3G/4G SIM and One 2G SIM), Android OS v7.0 (Nougat) preloaded on its 64GB ROM, TouchWiz user interface, 4G/LTE network compatibility, Adreno 540 GPU, microSD memory card support (up to 256GB), Always-on display, 3.5mm stereo jack, active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi, Dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, NFC, hotspot, health sensors, GPS/GLONASS, Type C reversible USB connector, USB v3.1 support, Qi wireless charging support, barometer, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, heart rate, SpO2, HTML5 browser, Samsung DeX desktop experience support, and a powerful non removable 3000mAh Li-Ion battery.
