New Main iOS 15 Features to Look For
Apple introduces a whole cluster of new features with every iOS update. The all-new iOS 15 combines enhanced on-device intelligence along with other major updates. iOS 15 helps users stay connected while sharing experiences in real-time and also gives them new tools to help reduce distraction and find focus. It also allows the users to access information quickly and create more spaces on the system to protect user information.
iOS 15 provides more ways to explore and experience the devices. It introduces new features for FaceTime calls, tools to reduce distractions, complete redesigns UI for Weather App, Maps, and more. iOS 15 is also supported in all of the same iPhones as iOS 13 and iOS 14, including older devices like the original iPhone SE and iPhone 6s.
Major updates in Facetime
FaceTime has received major updates with the iOS 15. We have seen a recent boom in the trends of video calls, hence this change was expected with the new update. FaceTime keeps the user connected and makes the video calls feel more natural in nature. The updates of iOS 15 have enhanced the experience even more.
Spatial Audio
Spatial Audio brings in voice isolation with the iOS 15. It ensures that the voices sound as if they are coming from where the person is located on the screen. The new microphone mode separates a user's voice from background noise and puts their voice front and center.
Grid View & Portrait Mode
FaceTime in iOS 15 also supports Portrait mode and offers a new Grid View to see more faces at the same time. The Grid View can be used during group video calls and it will help you view more participant’s faces at once. Portrait Mode, on the other hand, allows the users to blur out their background and put themselves in focus.
Face Time Links - An Edge against Zoom
iOS 15 is also helping FaceTime beat its competitors by generating shareable FaceTime links to schedule calls. Similar to Zoom, you can now create a FaceTime link and send it to anyone and they can open it even on a web browser. This enables bringing FaceTime to Android and Windows for the first time. FaceTime calls on the web will remain end-to-end encrypted to guarantee privacy.
Share Play - A New Way of Entertainment
Another new feature of iOS 15 is SharePlay that allows users to share experiences with each other during FaceTime calls, including media like Apple Music songs, TV shows, or movies. SharePlay works across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and with shared playback controls and provides an extra dose of entertainment by allowing anyone in a SharePlay session to play, pause, or jump ahead. It creates entirely new ways to connect by giving users the ability to share their screens to view apps together in a FaceTime call.
Focus Mode - A Smart Move
iOS 15 adds another powerful tool that can filter notifications and apps based on what a user wishes to focus on at a certain time. When a user’s Focus is blocking incoming notifications, the status is automatically displayed to others in Messages, reflecting that a user is not currently reachable unless it's urgent. This feature reduces distraction and helps the users to create custom focus.
iOS 15 also automatically suggests Focuses to users using on-device intelligence to determine which people and apps should notify them at certain times. It lets you customize Focus to only show certain notifications and Home Screen pages and set up auto-replies for Messages during a Focus. When you set Focus on one Apple device it automatically applies it to the others as well.
Apple Maps - Finding Ways Better Now
iOS 15 has added more details to Apple Maps than ever. It has enhanced the detail of the app and it can now detect roads, neighborhoods, trees, and buildings all with so much more depth. It puts much more detail on 3D landmarks and also has a new dark mode. Maps feature a three-dimensional city-driving experience with new road details while using iPhone or CarPlay.
Apple Maps generates a highly accurate position to deliver detailed walking directions in augmented reality and helps you find better ways. It automatically updates search results when moving around the area. The new iOS update has enhanced the overall interactive globe view with wondrous detailing.
Weather App Refreshed
The Weather app has been completely redesigned in iOS 15. It now features more graphical displays for weather data, a full-screen map, and a dynamic layout that changes based on outside conditions. Weather App’s animated background has also been changed to more accurately reflect the sun's current position and precipitation conditions. The best part is there are notifications to highlight when rain or snow starts and stops.
